I need to evaluate your upgrade options. With your current setup, you have an i7-2760QM and a Quadro GPU. The program demands 18 threads at 135% CPU usage, which is moderate. Since it's CPU-intensive and not GPU-dependent, boosting thread count or frequency could help. Consider a CPU with more threads than your current 8, or higher performance per thread. A desktop build would benefit from both improvements for better stability and speed.

This processor combines an older design with a mobile adaptation, making it simple to achieve faster speeds and additional cores. For instance, the Ryzen 5 3600 offers strong performance without a high price tag, while still providing higher clocks and more cores than your current CPU.

It's a C++ application, but it doesn't rely on the GPU for processing. I'm aiming to stay within a budget of under $1,000 for the system. No other tasks are being executed on it.

The "scales to 18 threads" statement doesn't seem to apply here. Single-core performance remains strong, though multi-core or thread counts don't always improve.

The 18 threads shown in the computer's resource monitor during calculation are not based on the program specifications.

The calculation came from the available options. The software name isn't specified, but Ryzen offers multithread benefits at similar costs. However, CAD software often struggles with optimization on Ryzen processors.

If you have the budget, an i7 10700k offers numerous cores and high-speed performance.

The program is Vectric V-carve Pro. It functions as a CAD/CAM tool for crafting and generating toolpaths for CNC machines.

It depends on the task; more cores/threads can speed up multi-threaded applications but may not help single-threaded ones much.
