You're making a solid choice with the AMD THREADRIPPER 3960X and ASROCK TRX40 CREATOR board. They offer good performance for CAD, video rendering, and AI/ML tasks. Just make sure your software and drivers are compatible, and consider upgrading RAM or storage if needed for smoother multitasking. Let me know if you need more tips!

You can cut costs by using a 3950X with a solid X570 board. For more performance needs, the 3960X is also a strong option.

I’m focusing on heavy CAD tasks and deep learning projects. Threadripper 3950X offers better performance over Threadripper 3960X due to its higher core count and improved efficiency, making it ideal for demanding workloads.

More affordable option available, but both CPUs perform well. They suit different users—choose the one with more lanes, extra cores (over 16), and better memory for capacity. The TR model is a solid pick too, like the 3950x. Updated June 25, 2020 by TofuHaroto

The main benefit of the 3950X is its affordability. Choose HEDT platforms like Threadripper only if you truly require additional cores or extensive PCIe expansion, since these options are significantly pricier. The 3960X offers superior performance in most scenarios, especially when budget isn’t a factor.

I’d choose the Ryzen 3950X if multitasking matters more. It offers better performance in demanding tasks thanks to its higher core count and strong multithreading, even though the i9 has a solid base.
