Hey! I'm exploring 'Astroneer' and it's available on both Windows Store and Steam. Some players find the Windows Store less popular among PC gamers. My Xbox would be great to play too, especially if split-screen support is added so friends can join locally. The developers are interested in mod support through Steam Workshop, which would be nice. Currently, the Store doesn't allow mods, but that seems minor compared to other restrictions. For instance, no overlays – I don’t need one, but if I did, I could use CAM on another monitor. V-Sync is stuck, though Xbox says it will be fixed soon (maybe by February). Borderless-Windowed mode looks promising for me. No modding seems like the main issue right now, though it might change. Would you guys have any thoughts? Is there something I should know about?
I share similar worries. I intend to skip the Windows store for games soon until the problems are fixed. Their game list is limited to just 2-3 titles that are actually good... the rest aren't worth it. It feels too new to commit fully right now. Steam, on the other hand, is solid and offers many options with flexibility for players. In your situation, neither seems ideal either. I believe mods could enhance your experience, so consider buying a Steam account.
For seamless play across platforms, the PC-to-consoles compatibility is key. If that's your priority, Windows Store might be ideal. Otherwise, Steam offers a richer experience in terms of features, community, and personalization.
It's understandable that many aren't excited about Microsoft stores. Console gamers have limited options, and the Xbox One interface feels cluttered. The console shop is even more disappointing. I’d rather pay for Steam just to voice my concerns toward Microsoft. Plus, we don’t need any more DRM software.
Thanks for the ideas. I’m still feeling uncertain since I prefer Xbox but dislike the platform. Maybe I’ll purchase it on both systems to enjoy the advantages of each.
