I updated the BIOS even though I didn’t notice any changes, just did it for completeness. I also went through some reading and videos, and it seems the voltages only spike to around 1.4V and higher for brief moments—about 1 to 2 seconds. Once the load stays steady, they drop back below 1.3V. I confirmed this by repeatedly running Cinebench R20. By the way, adjusting my RAM speed gave me an extra 150 points. I used the XMP profile since I was hoping for an automatic fix, but I might explore it further later. Right now, I’m confident the Gigabyte chip can handle my CPU without issues and won’t react strangely to unusual voltages. When I get a better cooler, I’ll consider overclocking more carefully, because the stock one isn’t strong enough to keep me under 80°C during full load on all threads. I tested this by running several R20 instances in staggered runs, restarting one when it finished to maintain high load for longer. By then, the second instance was already throttling due to heat. Also, if anyone wants, I achieved a max of 4677 in R20 with 4GHz clocks, 1.27V core voltage, and temperatures around 75°C—still with automatic boosting and throttling active.
