Hello! If you're interested in flight simulation and aiming to become a pilot, consider what fits your goals best. Microsoft FSX offers a broad range of realistic aircraft and environments, while Prepar3D is known for its detailed physics and customization options. In my view, Prepar3D might be better if you want deeper technical control and realism, whereas FSX could suit those who prefer a more accessible entry point. Ultimately, choose based on your budget, experience level, and what you hope to achieve in the sim world.

It's worth getting P3D, but don't assume it provides real simulation experience. You might only be able to claim familiarity with the dynamics, not full immersion.

P3D offers superior optimization compared to FSX, which has been around for a decade and is no longer actively maintained by developers. In any situation, it can push your PC to its limits. While the core programs like FSX or P3D are relatively affordable, the add-ons will be more expensive. For a more realistic simulation, you’ll need to purchase specialized planes from developers such as PMDG, which may cost more in terms of planes and accessories than the base software itself.

Flight simulating can cost as much as obtaining a private pilot license. For general use, I suggest P3D or Xplane for civil applications (Xplane is significantly cheaper than P3D). If your interest lies in military aviation, DCS World could be a good option.
