Choose Intel Core i5 or Ryzen 5 3600 for powerful performance.
I'm considering upgrading my components but know I'll need a new motherboard. I was thinking about an i5 9600k with overclocking, which means I'll need a new board, cooler, and power supply. Another idea is the Ryzen 5 3600 bundle that includes a motherboard, RAM, and CPU. Right now I have a 550W power unit, two 2600MHz 8GB RAM sticks, a GTX 1660 Super, and an i5 7500. I mostly play Rust, which uses about 87% CPU. I've also heard Intel handles single-threaded tasks better, which is good for Rust. Buying the i5 9600k should probably cost more than the Ryzen bundle, and I'm on a budget of around 400€.
outperforms the i5 9600k in most tasks. (i5 9600k beats it by about 1% after overclocking to 4.8GHz) However, 3600 offers six additional threads, reducing contention and providing better performance in 1% and 0.1% scenarios.
Don't aim for the 9600k. The platform isn't great. CPU quality is poor. Zen 2 or Comet Lake would be better. If those are the only choices, go with 3600.
Sure, take your time. The Ryzen 4000 will arrive this fall and should perform much better. If not, what specific 550W PSU are you referring to? Which motherboard is included in the 3600 package? Many boards with RAM are also added to these bundles.
I believe it's a fractal design 550w 80+ bronze Asus PRIME B450-PLUS paired with AMD Ryzen 5 3600 and Kingston 16GB (2x8GB) HyperX Fury DDR4 3200MHz. This is one of the bundles featuring Asus ROG Strix B450-F for gaming, along with the Ryzen 5 3600 and the same memory speed. Compared to another set, this configuration is about 2€ more than the previous one. It's also roughly 10€ pricier than the MSI B450 TOMAHAWK MAX bundle with the AMD Ryzen 5 3600 and 16GB DDR4 memory.
Is the PSU integrated M from Fractal? Yes, that's perfect. Grab the Tomahawk Max Ryzen combo—one of the top B450 boards with verified Ryzen 4000 support.
