Choose between X570 and B550 based on your needs.
Hi, I hope someone here can assist with choosing a motherboard. I need a board with four SATA 6 ports, Wi-Fi support using an extendable antenna like the ASUS ROG STRIX B550-E, and a BIOS flashback button. It should be reliable enough for at least three out of five years. I also plan to overclock my Ryzen 5 5600x CPU and install Corsair Vengance 32GB 3600MHz RAM. Thanks ahead of time!
Many motherboards meet those requirements. Visit retailers such as Newegg or PC part picker, where you can sort by different options (like needing Wi-Fi, having at least four SATA ports, etc.). Be aware that some boards may disable one or two SATA ports when you install an NVMe M.2 SSD, so check the specs carefully. Consider Wi-Fi as an optional feature—you could purchase a PCIe X1 or miniPCIe wireless card for 5 to 15 dollars if you find a great deal on a board instead. The distinction between B550 and X570 lies in their PCIe slot configurations: B550 supports PCIe 3.0 for its slots, while the X570 uses PCIe 4.0 for its slots, video card PCIe slot, and first M.2 connector.
Here are some alternative options you can consider:
- Vb3mP6 Gigabyte B550 AORUS Elite Ax V2 ATX motherboard
- ZyjNnQ Asus TUF Gaming B550 Plus Wi-Fi ATX motherboard
- ROG Strix B550 F Gaming Wi-Fi ATX motherboard
- ASUS ROG Strix B550 F Gaming Wi-Fi ATX motherboard
Thanks to all for your support, I went with the Asus Rog Strix X570-E. Edited on February 15, 2021 by Royal Guard
