Choose between two 8GB RAM modules or one 16GB stick for better performance.
Hello! I just switched from my older 2012 setup to a newer AMD system with a Ryzen 5 2600 overclocked to 4.0Ghz. I’m using an ASUS Prime B450M-K motherboard with 8GB RAM (single channel) and an EVGA GeForce GTX 980. I’m thinking about getting 16GB of RAM now, replacing the current 8GB stick, and I want to know if it’s better to buy one 16GB stick or two 8GB sticks. My motherboard is MATX, so I only have two RAM slots. Any advice would be really helpful!
I believe getting two 8GB sticks would improve performance. I only received a mATX board because my budget was tight, but I plan to upgrade to a full ATX motherboard next year and then add another 32GB. For now, 16GB should suffice. Appreciate the guidance!
