Well, unless you expect real gains from an 8-core processor, the 5600X is a solid pick because it offers better single-core speed compared to the 3800XT—even though the latter isn't terrible in that area. I own a 3800XT and it's working fine for me.

If you pushed it beyond its recommended limits, performance could degrade faster. Regular care and avoiding extreme temperatures usually help extend its lifespan.

I’ve used a 6-core CPU and it’s more than enough for all my activities—gaming and productivity tasks like video editing run smoothly without any issues. The difference between 5600x and 5600X seems minor; you won’t notice much. I plan to upgrade to more cores, possibly reaching 12 or higher when needed, since 8 cores aren’t enough to make a noticeable impact. Having multiple monitors doesn’t depend on your CPU—it’s about the GPU’s capability. With a GPU supporting four outputs, you can comfortably use four monitors.

I operate using stock clocks at reduced power levels. The 1700X has served me well, and I believe the 3800XT could easily last five years or longer.

The idea behind having a powerful processor isn't about needing 8 cores just for performance, but rather about matching workload demands. High-end chips like the i9-9900K were praised for being top-tier at the time, even though they were costly and had only eight cores. It seems affordable access to such capabilities shouldn't be limited by core count alone. Why should non-productivity fields be restricted to fewer cores?
