It comes down to your total budget and whether you already own an AM4 platform. In terms of raw power, the i5 13600k seems solid and would likely surpass the 5800X in most scenarios. Using a Ryzen 9 could be very cost-effective if you have the AM4 setup.

Start fresh, then opt for the i5 unless your funds are limited for a solid graphics card. Even in that case, you can still choose the i5 13400F or even cheaper models with the Ryzen 5 5600. In my view, the 5800X tends to be a reliable pick until you find a better deal.
