Starting my PC build for the first time. I’m considering an i5 at 290€ and a Ryzen 370 with cooler included. Need advice on motherboard choices. I’ll keep using my 1070ti GPU until prices improve. Appreciate your help!

Results are comparable between the 5600x and the 11600k, though cooling expenses bring the latter closer in price. Still, I might opt for a custom aftermarket solution for the 5600x as well.

If you must upgrade your motherboard, the i5 is likely the wiser choice. For the cost savings, the 11600K heats up significantly, so investing in a quality cooler can offset the price difference. A decent cooler around 50 EUR still makes the i5 more economical. You’d need a Z motherboard to push the 11600K to higher speeds, while the 5600X supports overclocking with any B450 or B550 board. Consider overall pricing—including CPU, cooler, and board—to decide. B550 boards are roughly 20-25 EUR cheaper than Z490, so the decision hinges on total value.

For games such as CS or Valorant, the 5600x is clearly the best option. For AAA games or less intense esports titles, pick whatever offers the best value (considering graphics card and cooling costs)

You can find an affordable board at 5600x pricing. B450 models are often on sale, and they’ll perform just fine. Consider the Hyper 212 or GammaX 400 for your CPU choice.

It's near, yet the 5600X tends to beat the 11.6GHz model. Nonetheless, given these costs, he should manage to acquire the 11.6GHz variant. A concern here is that many B450 motherboards come with outdated BIOS for the fifth generation.
