Choose between Ryzen Threadripper and Intel CPU for gaming performance.
I'm assembling a gaming PC and need help picking the right CPU... Any ideas? Your budget is around 169,000 Baht or roughly 5000 USD. You're planning to use it for gaming and some UI/UX design tasks. You already have a nice setup: Intel Core i9-10900K, ASUS ROG STRIX RTX2080TI, 11GB GDDR6 SSD, Trident Z RGB GOLD, and a water cooler you're unsure about. You're thinking of a case like the Lian-Li Dynamic 011 Razer, but want something RGB and stylish with a cool plan. Looking forward to more recommendations!
We usually begin with the current system specifications. Generally, you establish a foundation there.
For gaming, you don't require Threadripper—just choose a Ryzen 9 model from the lineup.
Budget (including currency): 169,000 Baht / 5000 USD Country: Thailand Games, programs or tasks it serves: Gaming and some UIUX design Additional notes (previous components, peripherals required, what you're replacing, purchase timeline, desired resolution and refresh rate, etc.): Currently considering CPU: Intel Core i9-10900K or Ryzen Threadripper GPU: ASUS ROG STRIX RTX2080TI O11G GAMING 11GB GDDR6 SSD: Samsung 970 Evo Plus NVMe PCIe M.2 1TB RAM: Trident Z RGB GOLD & CHROME, looks great but are there alternatives? Water cooler: Not sure which one Power supply: Not sure which one Case: LIAN-LI DYNAMIC 011 RAZER CASE, any other options? RGB preference and a cool plan to enhance the RGB look are priorities. I'm still gathering more ideas.
Budget? Which exact CPU are you considering? What is the "Ryzen TR" model? If your tasks need multiple threads, Intel might not be ideal unless you need AVX support. Their newest HEDT series offers a solid choice. Edited August 1, 2020 by TofuHaroto
You're planning to invest around 3 to 4 thousand dollars in a gaming PC. If you're ready, consider waiting until Zen3 and NVIDIA APMere are available.
