I began by relying solely on the keyboard for FPS games using a controller, coming from a console setup. Now I aim to use the keyboard in as many titles as possible, except for games like Rayman, racing, or FIFA. I’ve noticed I really favor the keyboard now, even while driving in GTA V—it feels much better. Just a few days ago, I switched from controller to M&K in Arkham Knight, and I’m aware that keyboard is my stronger choice there too.

Controllers for platformers, combat games, and most emulated titles. Games without camera control. HOTAS for Elite: Dangerous. Use mouse and keyboard for everything else (including Assassin Creed, MGS5, and Arkham series). Any game where you manage the camera, really.

I'm a PC gamer/youtuber, not a tech advisor. I've only used a gaming controller about eight times (excluding the Wii). I was thinking about getting an Xbox controller for my PC, but it doesn't seem worth it since I don't play enough games that work with it. So far, I prefer mice and keyboards for most games, except for driving ones. Just buy a mouse or keyboard if you need something better.

I use Corsair K70 w/brown switches and red lighting, and a Razer Deathadder 2014 for most games, especially FPS and then switch over to my Xbox One controller (still waiting on that Wireless adapter to come out!! So using a cheap 3m USB cable) for 3rd person, racing and whenever I feel like playing on my TV through HDMI. I also have Controller Companion for using my controller as a mouse when navigating on TV.

I usually rely on a controller for racing games and GTA 5. The mouse and keyboard don’t quite fit in my view.

I understand your point. I also rely on the controller in GTA 5, even during multiplayer when I’d normally be at a disadvantage, yet I still tend to win many battles against players using keyboard and mouse.
