You're considering using leftover liquid metal from your old laptop on the new AIE cooler. On your previous machine, it helped reduce temperatures by 3-5 degrees during heavy loads, but performance was still poor. With your new I9-10900K and CM ML360R cooler, it might work better, though you should test it carefully to avoid overheating.
The gap between IHS and cooler isn't noticeable much, seems. Videos show people using LM on GPU dies and switching between IHS and cooler don't show big changes. It's not significant enough to justify the risks involved. Your CPU being soldered also means LM doesn't play a role there either.
LM isn't really useful when connecting IHS to a heatsink and might even lead to damage. It works well for DIE to IHS, but swapping a 10900k just for small improvements isn't safe.
Seemed reasonable after reviewing before sharing. On the laptop, I used the LM and the performance was at least impressive. It worked well with both the CPU and GPU since they shared the same cooler. Appreciate confirming my understanding.
