I’m looking for a laptop in the 900-1200 AUD range. The options are: 1) Asus Vivobook m1502ya with Ryzen 5 7530u, 8 GB RAM, 512 GB SSD, TN 1080p display; 2) Asus Vivobook m1502ya with Ryzen 7 7730u, 16 GB RAM, 1 GB SSD, TN 1080p display; 3) Asus Vivobook x1502 with Intel Core i5 13500H, 16 GB RAM, 512 GB SSD, IPS 1080p display; 4) MSI Modern 14 with Intel Core i5 1235U, 16 GB RAM, 512 GB SSD, 1080p IPS display. I was thinking about the Ryzen 7 7730u but realized it’s a Zen 3 chip with Vega graphics, not RDNA2. The TN panel quality isn’t great either. I’m unsure if Intel Iris Xe performance will match or beat the Ryzen in speed and battery life, nor how it compares to the Intel CPU’s power efficiency versus the AMD Zen 3. Any advice?
Intel's P and E cores perform better with Windows 11. The task scheduler in Windows 10 struggles to utilize these cores effectively, leading to reduced performance on newer Intel processors. An IPS display would be a significant change for me. What is your main purpose for using the laptop?
I'm working on game or engine development... I understand it's not perfect since they lack dedicated GPUs, but portability and battery life are important for my situation. I support the IPS display, though I'm unsure how well Intel Iris Xe graphics will perform in games. Also, I wonder if Intel provides good GPU profiling and debugging tools for developers.
