They’re both available on Steam right now, but only one fits your budget. The gameplay resembles a first-person WoW with some Elder Scrolls elements—definitely not a huge draw. It’s also worth noting none of my friends own or plan to get it, so I’d likely play solo. On the flip side, Fallout 4 isn’t running smoothly on my PC, though I might be able to improve it, which isn’t a big issue. Still, I’m getting tired of playing the same games repeatedly, especially when others prefer something new. Could you all share your thoughts and reasons, and please keep your opinions balanced?

Avoid playing MMORPGs alone unless you excel at building them. I'm not

Stay clear of ESO, it's not worth it.

ESO is quite independent in its gameplay. You won't need teams to handle much beyond the group dungeons and challenges (the ESO equivalent of raids). Those who claim ESO is bad are probably thinking about early versions or haven't played it recently. Since I've been playing since the release, the experience has significantly improved from April to July 2014 onward.

ESO isn't the best choice. I still wish I had chosen something else (Imperial Edition included!). Fallout 4 offers a solid experience, should keep you entertained for about 140-150 hours (or more if you explore settlements) and likely longer with all endings. I suggest purchasing the season pass at the lowest price possible (Far Harbor is a solid option; others focus mainly on settlements). NexusMods can help—there are many great mods available, and installing them is easy. An unofficial Fallout 4 patch is highly recommended.

Fo4 offers excellent worth and allows you to enjoy at least 80 hours of gameplay. MMOs are great but usually work best with fellow gamers. I wouldn't suggest Elder Scrolls.

I really like both games a lot, though I've always preferred Elder Scrolls because of its tech. It's hard to find time with friends for parties, but at least we could play some ESO if we all joined. You won't find that chance in Fallout 4, and I also noted you can now become part of the Dark Brotherhood in ESO to take out targets. So much fun!

ESO is quite chaotic. The game for 4 players offers better value when priced equally.
