I’m curious about which MOBA is more challenging for you. From what I’ve heard, Dota 2 often feels tougher, but your friend’s experience suggests something different. It might depend on what you enjoy—strategy, teamwork, or fast-paced action. Have you tried focusing on specific aspects like map control, hero synergy, or decision-making? That could help narrow it down.
Your explanation was exactly what I needed. I suggest Heroes of the Storm for a more enjoyable experience than typical MOBA titles.
Don't really play League, but I've played Dota since 2005, it's pretty deep in terms of style of play -- how you're suppose to play heroes and how that style of play is suitable to other heroes. Like the guy above me said, there is a hero, Meepo, that you can play that act as five individual heroes with the same skill, you need to have extremely good micro skills. On the other hand, there is a hero, Invoker, with 10 skills, which you can pick 2 at a time, and if you're fast enough you can throw combos at enemy heroes. Individual skills are necessary, but it doesn't take anything away from being able to play with your team. You could be really good but still be detrimental to your team's success. Also graphics are better. Which is nice.
AMD SUX CoD offers a smoother experience compared to other engines. DotA2 still has some issues and restrictions inherited from Warcraft III, but its mechanics are more balanced. Playing it can be challenging because you often face obstacles that shouldn’t exist, yet mastering them makes the game really rewarding. You can fully utilize those challenges to get the best results and dominate the competition.
Don't dislike the genre because of its high skill requirements. I bet you gave it a shot and quickly lost interest due to feeling overwhelmed. That makes sense. There are so many factors in MOBA mechanics, and truly mastering every hero is nearly impossible. That's what draws most players in. Even seasoned veterans keep discovering new aspects. It can be really satisfying if you're resilient and ready to learn. As for your question, D2 presents a steeper challenge compared to LoL, so the shift shouldn't feel as harsh.
Dota 2 presents a tougher challenge and a more intense competition compared to League.
I favor DOTA 2 because I've been playing it for some time now.
