Hey there, I have a query I’m trying to figure out. Right now I own a Ryzen 5 3600 and 16GB of RAM. I mainly use my PC for gaming and streaming. I’m thinking about upgrading my son’s computer with what I have, since his 1600 is nearing the end of its life. When I set up my system, I chose the 3600 to pass it on because he’ll need more memory support. Now I’m wondering what’s best for the upgrade—buying just one part or both the CPU and RAM? I’m looking at around $300. Microcenter has both the Ryzen 5 5600X and the Ryzen 7 5800X on sale. The 5800X is $300, and the 5600X is $240. They also sell 16GB of RAM for $65. Should I go with the 5800X alone or invest in both the CPU and RAM? I’m confident my current setup will work well with his new machine, especially if he gets a 3080 later. Thanks! Depends on the RAM specifications. 16GB equates to a car capacity of four seats, but doesn't reveal details about its features. Always include clock speed and timing information, at least CL. The 5600X outperforms the 3800X in gaming due to its much stronger single-core performance.
