Choose between BT's whole-home Wi-Fi and Google Wi-Fi based on your needs.
Choose between BT's whole-home Wi-Fi and Google Wi-Fi based on your needs.
BT appears to consist mainly of mesh Access Points, depending on your existing router for DHCP and similar services, whereas Google Wifi can replace your current router and handle everything itself. In terms of features, they seem quite similar—pause internet, check online status, etc.—but BT offers more functionality. Personally, I own three Google Wifi devices, which are expensive but have worked fine so far. They lack some advanced features. TL;DR: if you just want improved coverage, choose BT; it’s cheaper.
Find a reliable mesh system for full-home coverage without gaps
I’m leaning toward the full-home Wi-Fi setup because it’s £300 less and appears to deliver similar speed, especially with your existing router. The only downside is its limited coverage area.
