Right now I own an A320M S2H with a Ryzen 5 2600 and an RX 5700 XT, using 16GB DDR4 2666. I’m saving up and almost ready to replace my CPU and motherboard. My plans include a Ryzen 7 3700X (3800X doesn’t seem worthwhile) and upgrading the motherboard. Should I choose an X570 for PCIe 4 support or go with a B450? Also, I might boost my RAM to four 8GB modules at a faster speed since it’s a third-gen Ryzen. Thanks!
If you can afford it, opt for an X570 socket. However, I wouldn't suggest the B450 for Ryzen 3000 series (especially with Ryzen 7 3700X and higher) since the VRM might not deliver sufficient power when overclocking. In any scenario, it would be helpful to know your preferred motherboard—different brands and models offer varying features and VRM performance.
It really depends on the specific B450 board. Some inexpensive versions may not work well, while others should be adequate.
I agree with that. For example, the MSI B450 Tomahawk supports an OC Ryzen 9 without issues.
It's accurate. That's why I'm asking for more details about the motherboard the OP intended to use. However, regardless, I think pairing it with a B450 would be a loss since you miss out on PCIe 4.0 functionality, and the chipset only supports PCIe 2.0. Not a major issue, but still.
