I'm setting up a new PC and need advice on choosing an OS. Both Unity and Gnome look good, and they work well together. Since you'll be handling heavy tasks, gaming, and video editing, I recommend going with Gnome for its stability and powerful performance.
I prefer Unity mainly because it's easier and quicker for my needs, though opinions vary. To get the most out of it, you'll need to adjust your setup (Unity tweak tool or Compiz for Gnome).
It's about individual taste, but keep in mind that unity is relatively new and still faces some challenges from younger users and occasional changes. My preferred option is xfce because of its adaptability and neat design, though other setups are perfectly fine too. A nice feature of Linux is being able to run several desktop environments and switch between them easily—just type a few commands in the terminal, like "sudo apt-get install xubuntu-desktop" to launch it, and enter your password when prompted.
