Upgrading from Windows 7 to 10 usually doesn’t leave much extra space, especially if you’re using an SSD. The new version may add some files, but it’s generally minimal. As for storage usage, the upgrade itself won’t drastically increase space beyond what you already have.
I’m not certain about space. It will retain your previous version of 7 for a month if you need to revert. However, I’d go ahead with a fresh installation after the upgrade. In-place updates have led to issues.
What issues are you facing? The backup should last a month, and I’m reinstalling because I recently got a 500GB SSD. Is this backup device portable?
The old setup needs to be placed inside a Windows.old directory. All items from your prior installation will reside there, and the folder can be removed.
