PC Specifications: Motherboard - ASUS ROG Maximus XII Hero Z490 CPU - Intel Core i7 - 10700k Liquid Cooler - Corsair H100i RGB PLATINUM GPU - GeForce RTX 2070 RAM – Corsair Vengeance RGB Pro 32GB (2x16 3200MHz) M.2 SSD - Samsung 970 EVO SSD 1TB SSD - Samsung 860 EVO SSD 500GB PSU - CORSAIR RM850x 80+ Gold Certified Recently I considered replacing the two empty RAM slots with two fake sticks, but when checking prices, the 3600 model costs the same as the 3200. The fake sticks would add another $40, bringing the total to match the price of four 8GB modules. Since my system can support all four slots and I don’t plan to exceed 32GB, I need to decide between (2x16GB + 2 dummy sticks) or a single 4x8GB upgrade. Which option is more cost-effective?

You only realize what you require when you truly need it, so grab the 2x16 with the fake sticks—just in case you ever thought about upgrading. That’s how I usually think.

For casual gaming, 16 gigabytes should suffice. If you require 32 gigabytes, consider a 2x16 gigabit stick. For 64 gigabytes, you can upgrade later. From a performance standpoint, using four sticks won't improve things, and the fake ones don't add value.
