I'm setting up a new PC and so far only have a Ryzen 5 3600. I haven't picked a graphics card yet, but I think an AMD 5700 or GTX 1070 would fit well. In a few years I plan to upgrade to an 8-core, 16-thread CPU. Would anyone recommend the type of motherboard to buy? Ideally, I want something that allows easy CPU swapping later. Thanks, Simon

Currently X570 leads AMD on the AM4 platform. The next generation will likely be the final model for this socket, making future-proofing less relevant. It should still function well for another 3 to 5 years based on present technology, though performance may plateau as silicon manufacturing approaches its limits.

This setup should likely work with the latest Ryzen processors after a BIOS update.

they work on finding quality silicon to improve clocks, and i’d pay more now for better performance—like 12 cores running at 4.8ghz.
