I bought a ~20$ USB Wi-Fi key (Archer T3U) about three months ago. It performed well until recently, then started disconnecting unexpectedly. I've tried many fixes—changing the EEE standard, reinstalling drivers, using another recommended driver, cooling it with a laptop fan, and testing different USB ports. Still facing random drops. I'm worried and need advice. Would you have any suggestions for a reliable USB Wi-Fi key in that price range? I want something stable, dual-band, lasting over eight months, no random failures, and ideally under 35$. Don't suggest installing a Wi-Fi card if not necessary. Any tips would be appreciated. Thanks!

Avoid using USB ports—they're not good. Invest in a PCIe WiFi card for better performance.

I understand, I realize it’s better, though for certain reasons I’m unable to do so at the moment. That doesn’t really help.

We're only trying to help you save money. When you purchase a USB adapter, it often fails because of poor antenna design and overheating issues. Overheating leads to connection drops, which is why many PCIe cards include heatsinks. If you still choose to buy one, don't invest too much—most will eventually stop working.
