He should consider purchasing a 3600 MHz RAM stick to match his upgrade path. A 32 GB module would be ideal, but checking current specifications is important. The existing setup includes a 16 GB RAM, so adding more will improve performance.

Most Zen+ CPUs struggle with 3600 MHz, it's better to opt for a more cautious choice. A 2x16 setup would be perfect, while a 4x8 might cap performance around 2666 MHz. If you already have a 2x8, adding another 2x8 isn't too much of a problem. Lowering the frequency isn't the worst option, though it's not the ideal solution.

2x16 at 3000MHz with CL16 set to 15 offers optimal performance.

I recently discovered that 3200mhz exceeds the recommended range for Zen, while lower frequencies around 3000mhz would be ideal.
