Hi everyone, I'm planning to assemble a PC for a friend and was checking out the Ryzen 3 3200G. It's intended for a simple home office setup, not something high-end. I've been out of the loop a bit and haven't kept up with chipset compatibility for this model. What should I look for? I understand most chipsets work, but they usually need a BIOS update. Since I don’t have a replacement CPU to apply the update myself, I’m curious which ones would be best. Thanks!
Manny retailers provide BIOS updates for around ten dollars. If you’re near a store, politely asking could result in free service. Don’t stress about it. I’d suggest getting a B450 MOBO—it’s reliable and solid. In my view, the MIS B450 Tomahawk max is the top choice right now, available for 100 bucks. The max model should work out of the box, while the non-max versions might not (though they’re priced similarly).
You're welcome! They'll update the BIOS for £12. It seems the x570 is the only chipset that supports the Ryzen 3000 series natively.
Native support is available, but the MAX needs a BIOS that already backs 3rd gen Ryzen. Check the link https://www.msi.com//Motherboard/support...upport-cpu. Using x570 doesn’t make sense for your intended use!
