After a lengthy Valorant game, I've observed stuttering behavior. It seems unrelated to Apex Legends, which I assumed would be more demanding on the GPU. I'm curious if the issue stems from my GPU overheating.

GPU performance remains stable—no more than 40W draw and a clock speed of 1410MHz. Idle at 46.5c with fans spinning above 2000rpm still feels a bit intense.

It hasn't been my Valorant experience... but this indie game shows a similar issue. Its engine can lag after extended play sessions. A comparable example is From The Depths, where long play times lead to noticeable stuttering and lag.

The readings seem acceptable, though the 980 reached up to 80°C under maximum load. I recommend running a benchmark while monitoring your temperatures. They aren’t ideal, but they’re probably not much worse. If they climb too high, it might be due to excessive dust or improper airflow in your case. I once had an issue where I installed the CPU fan in the wrong direction, causing higher temps until I corrected it.

Did you test Valorant during that period? If not, run the program and Valprant together and share the outcome based on the peak temperature for further details.

Yes, likely because of overheating. In your first photo, if the GPU isn't moving then it's too warm for the fans to spin above 2k rpm. Those readings should match what you'd see on an idle GPU with fan off or stopped. Try running a full workload while keeping an eye on the GPU's clock speed and temperature.
