Checking your GPU stats with Task Manager
I think this GPU reading is way off, but when I play Cyberpunk, my task manager shows less than 10% of my GPU while my CPU uses about 50 to 80 percent sometimes even going up to 90 plus or hitting 100 percent a few times. Since I'm new to PC gaming, I don't know how to measure these things right but I was a little worried. Using just MSI center the CPU temperature was sitting at 39 degrees and the GPU usage was hitting more around 60 percent plus and moving back and forth around that number. Does that stuff look normal? I have all my settings maxed out with performance mode, DLSS on, ray tracing on too. It runs at a solid 60 FPS and I've played almost 40 hours so far before I figured this out. I installed the latest drivers: 12400F processor, 16 gigabytes of RAM, a 3060 Ti graphics card, and the game is on an SSD.
Sorry, I'll edit this post. Yes, that's 39 degrees and the program is just called MSI Center. I downloaded to change the RGB, but it also has a monitor for hardware attached. So assume it would be something like an MSI motherboard control. Sorry, fighting covid right now, so maybe I missed some details!
Are you actually watching the GPU usage while the game is running, or have you just moved to the desktop? If your MSI Center has an option to see system stats during gameplay and focus, check those numbers to see if they change compared to idle. If that software isn't available, try MSI Afterburner plus RTSS instead. It's normal for a CPU-heavy game like this to show high CPU usage; usually, more frames per second mean the GPU is doing its job better. Seeing 60% GPU usage while playing can be okay if graphics are set high, but your actual frame rate matters most. I'd say getting around 60 frames consistently is normal for this setup. A CPU temperature of 39 degrees Celsius while gaming is very low. That could mean you have terrible cooling, a broken sensor, or you're checking the wrong spot on the machine. I expect to see numbers in the high 60s into the 70s or even higher on an average gaming PC. Usually, with a 390mm AIO cooler and lots of air blowing through my case while playing Cyberpunk 2077, I get stuck around the low 60s.
Ok, thank you. I will look into that! Also, yes i am just alt tabbing around. I never really paid much attention to any of this stuff, i just randomly noticed that my cpu usage was 99% at a hard lock when closing it and it worried me.
