I understand there have been many issues with newer Windows 10 updates. I was performing a clean install on my girlfriend's machine today and saw the installed version differed from what I had. When I got back, I checked the updates settings and saw it warning me my version would no longer receive support soon. It suggested updating to the latest Windows 10 release. I haven't found any recent details about updating from an older version to this one. Could it still cause problems after several months since the last major update? Should I be cautious or take any steps before proceeding? Would a fresh installation be better? It's not that I'm overly concerned about my data—I mainly use it for gaming and everything is in the cloud. I also have important files on my laptop, so I'm curious about updating those too. Should I try it first on my gaming PC? Thanks! - Wonka0998

I haven't encountered any problems with the latest version of Windows 10, no security concerns or bugs I've noticed. It functions perfectly for me. I performed a fresh installation, but updating via Windows updates would be sufficient. After the updates, consider running a disk cleanup since, at least previously, I had leftover files from the update consuming around 5 to 10 GB of my storage.

I postpone all monthly updates by 15 days and the major upgrades by 60 days. So far, I haven’t encountered any issues.

Thanks! I'll proceed with the update. Staying current is important, though the Windows issues were definitely a worry. Let's find out what happens!

Utilize imaging tools such as Macrium Reflect to capture a snapshot of your system prior to upgrading. In the event of failure, you may recover the image. However, you should be safe either way. Ensure your hardware remains in good condition.
