Checking the CPU usage of a Hyper-V virtual machine.
I'm trying to operate several virtual machines running a game (ten game clients each) using a VM and VPN setup to circumvent IP restrictions. Previously, I could run up to 70 game clients directly on my computer without needing a VM. But when I use a VM on Windows 11, I can only manage ten game clients per VM. The performance drops significantly—CPU usage jumps to 50% even with just ten clients on one VM. Is this the expected behavior, or am I making a mistake in the optimization process?
What CPU model do you have? Does it support virtualization and was it activated in the BIOS? The memory available is limited; in the VM settings it's allocated only what's necessary for the 10 clients, but the operating system will likely consume most of it.
Just to confirm we're aligned...
Using the identical configuration you currently have, you managed 70 virtual clients.
The only change is that Hyper V has introduced a 10-client per IP limit.
Has anything else shifted—hardware, environment, or other settings?
What are your goals and requirements?
I checked both my 13900hx with 4080 and my 5800x3D while running 70 game clients without using a VM.
