Someone on here might know (I've seen rumors of such builds), but can 2 Titan X's run Star Citizen on ultra/max settings? I know that it's been said nothing can, but I find that somewhat hard to believe. I have a friend who wants me to design a computer for him now, but I'm in the boat of "wait for Pascal".

I noticed it the previous day in a discussion, that even two Titan Xs struggle with it at 4K right now... but it's a tough guess, since the game isn't finished yet.

I understood your point clearly, which is why I recommended he pause. Appreciate it!

DX12 isn't the only solution to all issues I've encountered. Some people manage to run 4K at low frame rates, which works for images, but I've personally tried it and it doesn't display properly. Instead, I see just the top quarter of the screen.

You seem to be in the correct direction if your friend has time to wait.

DirectX12 and Vulkan will lower CPU load, take advantage of multiple cores and reduce stutter. They might also assist in avoiding overwhelming performance issues during intense ship battles. However, handling 4K resolution remains challenging due to the GPU's processing limits.

Optimization must come first before focusing on GPU performance.

It's true that DX12 won't solve all issues.

I think you misunderstand the idea behind it. Term fix implies that something is broken. DX12 will simply improve a bunch of aspects that are heavy on the performance and relay on Draw Calls and Multi-Core performance. And that, depending on the implementation from the developer, may be a huge or none of a difference.
