Checking performance upgrades from Ryzen 5 1600 to 3600.
Hey there, I'm thinking about upgrading your gaming setup. With a R5 1600 and an older 1070ti, you're looking at improving performance for competitive titles. You mentioned CS:GO is smooth at 230fps+, but Apex Legends drops to around 100fps on lower settings. Streaming brings it down to 80fps, which is a bit disappointing given your 144Hz monitor. Since you play competitively in higher ranks, I’d say yes—purchasing the 3600 would definitely make a difference and help you hit those targets better.
It's quite affordable, but could you share your RAM speed and timings?
This purchase is reasonable provided your motherboard supports a BIOS update for Zen 2 models. Verify this first. Be aware that upgrading might eliminate compatibility with your 1600 chipset. Also, note that the Zen 3 lineup is expected in just a few months—consider waiting.
VENGEANCE® LED 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR4 RAM 2666MHz C16 Kit - Red indicator light. I’m new to RAM configuration, but if you think it’s feasible I’ll study and give it a shot. My motherboard model is ASUS Prime B450-K.
If you don't have any interesting in waiting for Ryzen 4000 just grab it Otherwise I'd wait and buy Ryzen 4000 with whatever new memory speed it supports, might be a 20-25% jump at best rather than a 15% jump or something. Also ya know, global pandemic and all, might need to hold onto the cash
Yea I guess waiting a bit longer for a more powerful cpu to come out and building a new rig is the best choice.
You could wait for the Ryzen 4000 release. Besides that, expect higher frame rates with a more powerful graphics card. It all depends on your budget.
