I'm considering setting up a new system or using an existing one and thought about passing my old rig to her. She wants to start streaming, especially with her gaming laptop, so I thought giving her my setup might be a good idea. Before making the change, I wanted to see if it works well just in case. The specs are: i7 7700, GTX 1070 TI, 32 GB RAM, 5 TB hard drive, 1 TB SSD, and an Elgato capture card. She doesn’t plan to stream games like COD; she prefers single-player titles.
The monitor will be limited to 1080p. I've considered the possibility of streaming if she prefers, using the 5800x model while keeping the 7700 until more funds are available. Eventually, I might switch to a 5800x again or a 5900x once inventory runs low.
She handles the stream flawlessly on that machine, cutting down power usage. Moving up to a model like the 3070 would be great once GPU costs stabilize, but it works just fine right now.
I don’t understand why these numbers don’t seem to make sense at all.
It should be fine for about 720p right now, especially if she enjoys streaming and wants to invest in the hobby. Keep in mind many users stream on low-cost PCs, HD tablets, or phones—streaming at 2k or 4k isn’t really necessary at the moment.
