I have an AMD FX-6300 processor and performed a one-hour stress test on Prime 95 with temperatures staying around 50°C or less using the stock cooler. During gaming, I only reached about 45-50°C. Would it be acceptable to overclock, and if yes, what is the recommended GHz?

Not likely. For light overclocking, consider the Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO with an air cooler. For heavier overclocking, the Corsair H100i GTX with a liquid cooler is a better option. The H100i is quieter and likely performs better, though it's significantly more costly (about 100 USD more).

I wouldn't. The Stock Cooler is made of cheap plastic and makes a lot of noise. It's like having your grandmother whistling into your computer to cool it.
Buy a cheaper CPU cooler instead.
