I’m considering adding a 3070 to my PC setup. Right now I have a B450 Pro with a VDH max paired with a Ryzen 7 3700X. I’m weighing whether an upgrade is necessary and what would be most advantageous. I was thinking about moving to the B550 Gaming Plus from MSI.
I own a Ryzen 7 3700X with 16GB DDR4 RAM at 3200MHz. I plan to switch from a 500W power supply to a Corsair RM750 PSU.
This looks like a better option. Do you have a CPU cooler available?
Upgrading between these boards should be smooth since both the B450 and B550 use the same AM4 socket, eliminating the need for a different CPU. However, with MSI B series boards you generally can't overclock them much to boost performance. If you're not sure, check out MSI's YouTube and Twitch streams—usually on Wednesdays around 11 AM Eastern Time. Join the stream and ask about overclocking possibilities for the B series.
