The scan shows the part number as CBX at the end. I searched for a Ryzen 5 5600X unboxing on YouTube and found it listed with Box at the end. On AMD's site, it lists OPN Tray 100-000000065 with various codes, but my scan indicates CBX. That’s a bit confusing for me.
Unless you're in China or another specific region, it seems likely to be fake.
I'm from the Philippines, but I think this came from another place. I saw a VSTEC sticker on the box and checked authentic distributors here—Amd does list VSTECs there, which makes me confused.
AMD provides guidance on spotting authentic items. The article explains that genuine products often come with various part numbers, not just for AMD but across different industries. This can affect packaging, target markets, pricing, and more. For instance, two cars might share the same alternator but have distinct part numbers for different reasons. Additionally, the CBX suffix appears on older Ryzen CPUs, though its purpose remains unclear.
Thanks a lot! I understand why I was concerned since I looked everywhere for CBX and didn’t find any info about cpu or amd. Your response really made a difference!
