Checking if the AMD FX-8320 can reach at least 4.0ghz with a bottleneck effect
Hi! I’m just starting out with overclocking and don’t have much experience. I noticed the 8320 has a base speed of 3.5 but can reach up to 4.0. How would I do this safely? I also heard my motherboard might not handle it well. Regarding GPU overclocking, how would I approach that and is it worth it? My current specs are: motherboard – Asus m5a97 le r2.0, cooling – Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO, CPU – AMD FX-8320, GPU – GTX 960. I also added the GPU because I wanted to check what might be limiting performance.
That board lacks heat sinks on the VRM, so avoid overclocking as it may harm components. It seems difficult to enhance performance further. Have you seen others using this board and successfully overclocking it? Are there any heat sink options available, or should I consider switching boards?
The board has a very bad thermal design, I wouldn't risk it, especially not with a 125w CPU.
Do you know any better options?
