I've owned a 3070 Ti Xc for about two years. Recently, my PC refused to start and displayed a VGA debug light on the motherboard. I tried removing other PCI-E devices and my M.2 drive, but nothing worked. I also checked different PCI-E slots and just reinserted it in the standard slot. After adjusting the arrangement of my RAM sticks and the video cables connected to the GPU ports, it managed to boot a few times and I accessed Windows. Unfortunately, since this morning I haven't been able to get it running again. When attempting to power it on, red LEDs blink near the power connectors and the fans spin briefly before stopping. The RGB lighting appears functional. A friend also installed a 3070 in my rig to confirm it wasn't the motherboard and it loaded into BIOS correctly. Before heading to the store for another card, I want to double-check everything and be sure this device is definitely not working. My only concern is that it did manage to start a couple of times before failing. Any guidance would be greatly appreciated. Have you tried swapping your GPU into your friend's rig and, is your card still covered under warranty? If not, you can try to disassemble the card and very briefly power it up while your hand touches the die. If it's not producing any heat. It's possible that the GPU core is fried or maybe the VRM's of the card is and not supplying power as they could be shorted. I must say tho, it's a bit risky so, if you do attempt this. Make sure the moment you feel any heat. Shut the computer down via the power supply switch to immediately cut power and prevent the core from killing it self. From there tho, if you card really is broken. You can either buy a new card or contact someone who does GPU board repair. Someone like Northridgefix.
I might consider returning the item, even though I purchased it used. Evga claims it remains under warranty. Appreciate you raising this issue—I wouldn’t have thought to verify the warranty status otherwise.
