Checking compatibility for an upgrade.
Checking compatibility for an upgrade.
Considering the upgrade from i7-7700 to i5-9600k seems possible, though I’m still unsure. The motherboard supports a high IX code, but it might be outdated for you.
They align in those specific years, but 7th and 9th don’t match.
It's frustrating, but it's logical. Thanks for letting me know—I can look up chipset info now.
This is correct. Also, OP, a i7 7700 to a i5 9600k is not really "an upgrade". The 9600k will run a little faster, but honestly, they are going to perform very, very similarly, not differently enough to warrant an upgrade. The 7700k is a 8 thread chip, 4 cores with HT, the 9600 is a 6 thread chip, 6 cores no HT. The 9600 will boost a little higher, but they realistically are the same underlying chip, Intel is STILL on 14nm. If you are looking for an upgrade, a 9700k, or a Ryzen 5 3600 or better would be a great option! But a 9600k, besides not being compatible, just doesn't make a lot of sense.
They all share the same socket, yet motherboards are compatible with either 6th or 7th generation or 8th and 9th generation systems. Upgrading from a 7th to an 8th or 9th generation board isn't possible on the same motherboard. Check the board's details here: https://www.asus.com/Motherboards/ROG-MA...fications/
You're correct, I didn't understand it was not here. I'd probably need a different GPU, maybe a Ryzen option?
You're considering swapping parts like your Ryzen 5 3600, Aorus Elite X570, and your motherboard to cover expenses. That's a smart move—hope it helps you get the funds you need! Thanks for reaching out; @LIGISTX was a great reminder about Ryzen options and prices. Have a great night!
