Checking BIOS updates for AB350 gaming setup
So I got my Ryzen 7 3700x & GTX 1080 Ti. The GTX 1080 Ti installed fine. After installing the Ryzen 7 the monitor displayed nothing after 3 minutes of waiting. I reinstalled my Ryzen 5 and everything booted up fine. So I did some research and tried the following. 1. ECFwUpdateB19.0606.1 (This is for the Windows 10 64bit). Then ran this from my downloads folder. The computer rebooted and everything seemed fine. 2. mb_bios_ga-ab350-gaming3_f31_n ... Downloaded this and copied the 3 files into a flash drive freshly formatted to Fat32. I got a message saying "Invalid BIOS Image". 3. mb_bios_ga-ab350-gaming3_f40 ... Downloaded this and copied the 3 files into the same flash drive, made sure they were the only files in the drive. Got a message saying "Invalid BIOS Image" What should I be doing?
What BIOS version are you currently using? Your motherboard can download the latest BIOS firmware directly through its web interface. If you're updating the firmware inside the BIOS, you won't need to transfer files like readme.txt, Efiflash.exe or autoexec.bat. Simply upload the 'AB350G.xx' file. Only when flashing from within Windows will you need to run Efiflash.exe. Additionally, the utilities section of the driver downloads may require other tools such as App Center, EC CF Update Tool, or BIOS Setup to help with the installation.
The file names indicate a BIOS update process. The error messages point to issues with the BIOS ID and image validity. Tools such as the APP tool, Bios Setup, and EC FW update Tool were used to address these problems.
I determined the setup. I believed I had AB350 Gaming 3 and I used AB350 Gaming (version 1.x).... The main concern is whether all drivers must be installed or if some can be omitted.
Aaah! Hehe! It's nice it didn't flash, otherwise you could have ended up with a bricked motherboard. Not really. There are brief notes for each BIOS update listed by release date. If it says you need one update before another, you should do that first.
Recap for similar issues: Follow these steps if you encounter the same problem. Source from Gigabyte.com. First, I upgraded my BIOS from F3 to F40 after updating my CPU. Before that, I swapped my Ryzen 5 for a Ryzen 7 and the display wouldn’t power on, so an update was essential. Next, I installed the EC FW Update Tool 3 and added the AMD chipset driver for my third-gen Ryzen CPU on Windows 10. I followed the BIOS installation steps: F31 then F50a, but booting remained slow. After reinstalling F40 and reapplying F50a, speeds returned to normal. I struggled to apply BIOS updates from Windows 10 and relied on the UEFI settings menu on the motherboard. The required file for your thumb drive is the biggest of the three Zip files from Gigabyte.com. Thank you for your assistance.
