Hey everyone, I attempted to install my older GPU with the newer one, aiming for dual-GPU performance. My main GPU is an RX 570 4GB, and the second is a GeForce GT 730 DDR3 2GB 128bit (seriously, that’s quite outdated). The issue is that my PC isn’t recognizing the second GPU at all. Am I missing something or making a mistake here?

To be honest, I’m not really sure what the real purpose would be for running two GPUs together. I mostly did it just to see what would happen, like those “what if I plug this in?” scenarios.

If it had worked, what would the second GPU have been doing?

Does that indicate it isn't registered in the BIOS or not detected by Windows?

Old GPUs aren't compatible with UEFI (new BIOS) mobos; they need to be switched to legacy or CSM mode. Using the second card can increase output and serve as an encoding device, which is helpful for streamers or those uploading gameplay to maintain FPS.

It seems you're looking for information about the second GPU and its BIOS settings. I'll check that for you. Regarding the downsides of enabling Legacy mode, there are potential issues such as compatibility limitations and performance constraints.

I use several motherboards with Legacy/CSM activated alongside booting Windows from UEFI.
Legacy mode is required to identify the BIOS in older LSI HBA SAS cards and likely my Solarflare SFP+ fibre optic NICs.
Make sure the BIOS includes UEFI on your bootable drives unless they are all MBR-based.
You might find options like UEFI boot first or Legacy boot first—pick the one that suits you best.

Did you also add the necessary nvidia drivers for the GT730?
The issue with older systems is that contemporary gpus might require UEFI bios to be recognized.
I wouldn't bother with the GT730.
Leave it as a backup in case your RX570 encounters problems.

Windows would handle that automatically if it appeared in the device manager.

When both UEFI and Legacy are active in my BIOS, the RTX4070 is recognized, the NVMe drive starts Windows from a GPT partition, and the BIOS on my old LSI HBA card and SFP+ NIC are identified through Legacy. Disabling Legacy removes the BIOS messages from the LSI card at startup, while disabling UEFI prevents booting from a GPT drive. Keeping both enabled offers the advantages of modern and traditional methods working together.

Running Topaz Video AI utilizes the RTX 4070, the iGPU in the 7950X, and all 16 CPU cores. It could be worth testing with an older RTX 3060 alongside the RTX 4070 to compare CUDA performance, especially during snowy conditions.
