Hey, your CPU is hovering around 50-60% during any game, especially with an RTX 2060. That’s not super unusual, but 60% feels high for titles like GTA, PUBG, Minecraft, and F1 22. Also, your GPU sometimes doesn’t reach full usage—sometimes it’s only about 80%. CPU model: Ryzen 7 5700X.

Checking CPU usage while doing nothing shows around 30%. Once the unrelated software problems are resolved, idle usage drops to 2-5%. This pattern is similar across other non-critical applications.

Using Discord, Chrome, Steam, my fancontrol app, MSI Afterburner, RGB Fusion, keyboard software, and hwinfo64 opens, idle stays at 3-4%.

The 5700x is fairly standard, just like your GPU. I suspect there are comparisons available on YouTube, especially for the games you enjoy. Notice how the performance varies. And how are the temperatures looking? No issues with disabled cores or similar problems.

CPU and GPU performance are now balanced at 60% and 50% respectively. Previously, everything worked smoothly, especially in games like Minecraft, reaching full GPU usage. Currently, it drops to 80% with the GPU operating at just 30%.

Review system restore to see what changed after "working okay." Clarify your questions about CPU and GPU performance. A CPU might be at 60% while GPU stays at 50%, but GPU fluctuating between 80% and 30% seems unusual.

At any moment, either the CPU or GPU becomes the bottleneck. With a typical 60Hz display, turning on VSync can limit the GPU to 60FPS, which lowers the demand on the CPU.

You're correct, the GPU rarely reaches 100% utilization.

No clear issue here, but a 5700x setup might struggle with an older 2060 model.

Without VSync active, the GPU tries to maintain an infinite frame rate. It won't actually achieve that, but it will work hard by loading fully until the CPU supplies the needed data. Capping FPS helps lower the GPU load during processing. APIs like Vulkan are more efficient at spreading tasks across multiple cores. This improves CPU use, though it also boosts overall usage. Excessive CPU activity can hurt other background processes if they're running low on resources. If this applies, you might adjust task priorities in Task Manager. The goal is to balance CPU use, focus on active apps, or upgrade the processor for better performance. Always check your CPU's performance with benchmarks.
