Hi there! Yesterday I changed my bios using Ez Flash 3 over the internet (no USB needed). It downloaded and installed the update, but then the computer stopped and restarted without showing any image on the screen. I thought it might just be the bios update. After waiting a few minutes, I turned it off and back on, but when I tried to boot, the asus motherboard displayed error code 02. I was worried, so I switched from the display port cable to hdmi (in the graphics card), changed both dp and hdmi connections to the motherboard, and still got the same problem. Then i sat on my phone, searched online while restarting, thinking i’d damaged it. I unplugged the gpu and plugged it back in. After a couple seconds, the screen said “Updating bios don’t shutdown the computer.” It restarted itself. Everything seems fine now—no issues with the gpu or connection. What happened? Is this typical during bios updates? Thanks!

It's unusual. The bios were probably still refreshing, but there was an issue preventing visibility of the update.

On certain boards, updates may take several hours to complete, and after repeated restarts, some devices might fail to show anything. The best approach is to launch it and let it run without interference until it recovers. If it doesn’t appear to restart, wait at least an hour before considering a forced shutdown.

You never rely on Windows quick fixes. Always handle it via the BIOS tool. This is simply a huge mess you’ve made

He used the online feature instead of a physical USB drive, which would normally be slower and require more actions.

Used the Asus Ez Flash 3 running in BIOS. EZ Flash -> Internet Update (notification it will restart with internet enabled in BIOS) -> Download and install immediately.

Everything is running smoothly now after a bit of effort. The PC boots correctly, the bios confirms the update, restarts function properly, and there are no current problems.
