Hey there! I need some guidance on selecting a GPU that fits your mini PCIe setup. You mentioned your Wi-Fi card is already in place, but you’ll need an adapter to connect it to the full PCIe slot. Since your CPU isn’t up to the task for certain applications, you’re probably thinking about a GTX 1080 instead of a more powerful model like the RTX 3060.

When evaluating a GTX 1080, focus on its memory bandwidth and overall performance in tasks that strain RAM. Make sure it matches your system’s specs—especially if you plan to run demanding software or stream high-resolution video. The Toshiba Satellite L855 with your current RAM setup should handle most needs, but keep in mind the CPU limitations when upgrading to a larger monitor.

Do you possess the external enclosure, adapter card, and the laptop itself? If not, you'll likely end up investing heavily in an outdated machine, which isn't a smart choice.

They perform similarly at around the same level. Consider a PCIe 2.0 x2 or possibly 3.0 x2 setup, which could become a significant limitation. It’s also worth noting there’s a low likelihood of success; most laptops don’t support this configuration. The best option might be to upgrade to another laptop or switch to a desktop. A $500 investment can provide a solid editing tool.

No? My budget is limited to 200$. I already saved 500W PSU and the adapter costs around 20-40$, and I’m using a used GPU. Now ask me about PCs or laptops under 200$—and just for reference, what I could get a bit over budget. Also, how can I check GPU options to ensure they match my CPU without bottlenecking?

That 2C/4T laptop is a great choice—looking for something similar in your build.

It goes beyond just the processor; the one from eBay includes DDR4 memory, an AVX2 instruction set, and a more powerful integrated GPU. As mentioned, this is just a suggestion—make whatever works for you, it’s your choice.

What psu? 250 for a 1080ti is a lot of money yikes. Also there is no guarantee what so ever this works. It has a far higher failure chance than a chance to succeed I do not recommend you do this as it's basically wasting money on something that has a very high chance of failure.
