I've noticed varying responses each time I ask—so I thought it'd be best to post here and see what most people recommend. I'm planning to purchase components for a build and need help deciding between the i9-9900K ($320) and the 5600X ($300). My setup handles gaming, streaming, video editing, and everyday university tasks, and I expect it to last a long time. Thanks for any advice!

5600X delivers superior performance compared to Intel's products in streaming, video editing, and most games—so you're getting the latest generation right now.

You wouldn't find any chips there. Just a bit more spending would bring you a 5800X, and that's enough. The 5600X lacks the necessary thread count, while the 9900K is already out of production.

I'm already waiting in line for an RTX 3080. It's highly improbable I'll alter my decision about it.

Actually, I didn’t check the 5800X specs. I think it should fit alongside the 5600X on the same motherboard.

Certainly. Here’s a revised version:

Yes, and yes.

That's positive! Let me know if you need anything else.

Via several distributors, many stores won't have sufficient inventory until December to meet all demands, and when were you added to the waiting list?

EVGA started the process about a month ago after hearing about it. When they have the items in stock, they email you and keep one for you for up to eight hours before passing it to the next person. The prices are a bit higher—starting at 730 instead of 700—but I’m fine with that. I’m not expecting to be near the top of the list, so I’m okay waiting a month or two.
