I recently improved my Internet connection and was able to browse the web smoothly. However, the Wi-Fi icon in my task bar shows a disconnected status despite having a white asterisk from It. Locking my computer screen reveals the Wi-Fi icon on the login screen is at full strength. I’ve also tested using an Ethernet cable, but it displays a red X. I can still access the web without issues. I’m trying to figure out how to remove the icon.

You might have multiple Wi-Fi cards or an idle VPN adapter. Launch Network Connections, turn off any unnecessary ones. To access network connections: 1. Press Windows Key + R 2. Type ncpa.cpl and press Enter 3. Click OK to disable an unused adapter 1. Click the adapter icon 2. Select Disable
