Hello everyone, I'm growing more concerned. This keeps happening every time I turn on my PC, especially when it's been running for a while. It's getting worse and taking longer to resolve on its own. What might be the problem? It stops when I unplug my second monitor, but changing the port doesn't help. WhatsApp Video 2023-11-20 at 5:24 PM.mp4
GPU model: RTX 2060 VENTUS 6G OC CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 2700X RAM: 16GB 3000-15 Vengeance LPX PSU: Corsair CX550 Second monitor: V5LP89 Phil 23,6 L 248E9QHSB/00 First monitor: MSI Optix MAG241CV - 24" It only occurs with my first monitor, which uses a display cable. My second monitor connects via HDMI. I also have a DP to HDMI adapter for my drawing tablet, but changing it doesn’t seem to make a difference.
It seems the issue only appears on one monitor using a specific connection type. A few possibilities come to mind... Either the display port on the monitor is faulty, the GPU isn't working, the cable is damaged, or the GPU itself has a problem. You can eliminate options 1-3 by swapping cables and monitors to see which combinations trigger the error.
I rebooted my computer, and everything functioned properly. However, this issue consistently occurs every time I start up my PC (which I do daily). My idea is that a component—such as a cable, monitor, or graphics card—becomes overheated and resolves the problem through a faulty connection. This might explain why it doesn’t happen after a restart but does occur during the first boot of the day. It doesn’t clarify why it stops when I unplug the second monitor on the side and restarts it. I plan to test some changes tomorrow, starting with swapping cables to see if that resolves the problem. If it works, I’ll share the results here again.
I restarted my computer and saw the messages you mentioned. I checked for possible reasons to remove from your list: - Display port malfunction or faulty cable - I switched my first monitor to HDMI and the second to VGA (the HDMI cable was originally from the second monitor). The issue continued. The DP cable didn’t seem to be the cause because it wasn’t used or connected properly. The ports themselves weren’t the issue since the DP port wasn’t active. My monitor stopped working—when I connected it, everything worked, but after reconnecting everything, the lines appeared. - The lines might be generated by my GPU. Could software be the reason? Everything seems normal when connecting just one monitor.
