He’s looking to assemble a budget PC and found a 2500k for great value. I shared my old Intel DB75EN 1155 motherboard, wondering if it would fit his motherboard. I also learned that the Sandy Bridge CPU supports PCIe 2.0, which might be relevant since he plans to buy a Gigabyte 1650 SUPER. I saw some info suggesting it may not work, but I’m not sure. Just checking compatibility of my parts for him. P.S. I haven’t seen any motherboard issues with graphics cards before—maybe I’m mistaken. Thanks ahead!
Likely yes. The correct socket matches, and there’s no issue with BIOS support. PCIe works both ways, so older cards fit newer boards and vice versa. Speed differences are manageable, so this setup should function well.
The motherboard is designed to handle graphics through its PCIe X16 port https://ark.intel.com/content/www/us/en/...b75en.html. The graphics card remains functional, offering backward compatibility with PCIe 2.0.
It shouldn't. That 2500k came out first for that socket, so it shouldn't require a BIOS update—though that could still make sense
You'll be okay with this. The 2500k is unlocked on the CPU side, though you won't be able to unlock it on this board. The K version tends to cost more due to this feature, but you might find an i7-2600 at a similar price that isn't unlocked and offers four extra threads.
I’ll check for compatibility, but the GPU support seems limited to certain series. The site mentioned only up to 10 and 20 series, not 16 series.
