Consider using Comodo. It will prompt you about allowing processes from programs to start or stop, which helps with offline debugging.

I think Avast is a bit too pushy at times, so I switch to AVG.

I currently prefer Malwarebytes PRO combined with Microsoft Security Essentials, as it runs smoothly without affecting performance. It’s lightweight and doesn’t interfere with most activities, which makes it a good choice.

I rely on Windows Defender version 8 and a tool provided by a friend (name forgotten). Linux serves as an alternative option.

I rely on Bitdefender since it offers strong detection capabilities and reliable support. It's a paid product, but it performs effectively with minimal user involvement. Still, you often don't require a full antivirus suite—just a lightweight real-time scanner like Windows Defender or another AV, plus an on-demand one such as Malwarebytes or Malwarebytes. Your preference is the best choice.

Windows Defender and malware data have worked well for me. For actual protection, avast is an option, though I don’t feel it’s essential right now.

I don’t have Malwarebyte installed, I’m using Windows Defender (Windows 8.1). I tried Avast on Windows 7 and found it to be excellent. If the update alerts or sounds bother you, turn them off. After disabling them, Avast won’t be noticeable at all.
